I just love clay! I find that through handling and manipulating it I can express myself and respond to and interpret the interaction of the
natural forces. Not surprising then that many of my pieces live outside, on walls, in ponds, or emerging through foliage from above or below.
All my ceramics are hand-built and my pieces often evolve as I lose myself in this wonderfully pliable and natural medium. I push boundaries, enjoy experimenting, and have a lot of fun.
I work mostly in Stoneware clay and then add oxides, glazes and often glass to enhance the shapes, textures and surface forms.
Many pieces have multiple structures so can be assembled, altered and adapted to fit into their environment. Inspiration for my work comes from tramping across wild places, mooching along coastlines, and exploring historical and archaeological sites, allowing my imagination to venture into other worlds.
I am thrilled and feel privileged to be able to exhibit my work in such a perfect setting with such a great bunch of people.
